Intern & Volunteer Duties
The Center is looking for people who have an interest in community and grassroots work. All interns and volunteers should be organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and willing to learn. Strong writing and speaking skills is preferred. Bilingual students (Asian languages & Spanish) are especially encouraged to apply.
Conflict Resolution Specialists (CRS): Interns and Volunteers will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Conducting intake interviews, interacting with clients, performing casework.
- Possibility of observing and participating in mediation (with completed training).
- Assisting with community education, public presentations, and outreach programs.
- Assisting in the day-to-day activities and special projects of the Center.
Conflict Resolution Specialists must attend the Center's 30-hour mediation and conflict resolution training. Intern and volunteer positions are available throughout the year. Hours are flexible, but Conflict Resolution Specialists are expected to work at the Center a minimum of 10-12 hours per week, preferably a 3-4 hour shift three times a week, for at least 16 weeks.
