We hope that those of you who are familiar with APADRC strengthened your relationship with us at this year’s Conversity, and for those who were new, we hope that you have learned about the great work that this organization does. | 30 hour Mediation Training Emphasizing Cross-Cultural Competency | | The Asian Pacific American Dispute Resolution Center offers mediation and conflict resolution training opportunities for individuals interested in community-based mediation. Training Information: Training fits the minimum requirements of the State of California Dispute Resolutions Programs Act for mediation training. Participants will receive a “Certificate of Attendance” as confirmation to the completion of the entire 30 hours of training. A “Certificate of Completion” is available for individuals interested in volunteering and completing 30 hours of hands-on mediation/conciliation work at APADRC. The event will have Leyna Nguyen, KCAL-9 News, as the emcee; brief welcome remarks from the Board of Supervisors, County’s Chief Executive Officer, local elected officials, and the keynote speech from Assistant Sheriff Paul Tanaka, who is also Mayor of Gardena; community and outstanding service awards will be presented; dragon dance performed by County department heads; performances by many Asian groups; foods; and community services booths to include APADRC, Asians for Miracle Marrow Match, AADAP, APCF, CACA, and Little Tokyo Service Center. In the same evening, APADRC will also be at the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Los Angeles County (APABA) at their 7th Annual Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Event from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Japanese American National Museum in Little Tokyo. This is a free event for the community and their theme this year was inspired by President Obama’s deep commitment to community service and in part by challenging economic times and its impact on our communities. Also, on July 11th, APADRC will be partnering with Smart Career Steps at their Opportunities in the Nonprofit Workshop at the Monterey Park Library.
