We would like to recognize and congratulate program coordinator Carolina Garza on her recent graduation from the Cal State Dominguez Hills graduate program in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding.  Carolina now holds a Masters degree and she finished her program with a 4.0 GPA.  The APADRC family is very proud of Carolina’s accomplishments. 

We would also like to say good-bye to two staff members that are leaving their positions with APADRC.  First, Lisa Chong, development coordinator, was contracted to organize Conversity, APADRC’s annual fundraising dinner/reception.  She worked tirelessly to put together a great celebration for our 20th year anniversary.  Thank you Lisa for your efforts in putting together a successful celebration reception.

APADRC will also be saying farewell to Ing Phansavath, Program Director.  After three years with APADRC, Ing is stepping down to explore the opportunities and challenges of working in the field of international development.  She is looking forward to taking time off to pursue her volunteer work with Engeye, a grassroots health clinic in Uganda founded by one of her close friends.  Ing has been working with the clinic since its inception and has had the opportunity to go to Uganda and provide direct assistance.  Ing hopes to build more capacity for the clinic in order to ensure its viability in the future. 

We would like to thank both Lisa and Ing for their contributions to the growth of APADRC.  Both will be missed, but both will remain a part of the APADRC family.

Finally, we would like to congratulate Kent Zhu on his promotion into the Program Director position.  Kent has been the Assistant Program Director for the last two years and will officially take the reigns as the Program Director at the end of June 2009.  We are excited that Kent will be stepping up to take his new lead role and we are looking forward to new development in our programs.
